What we do on a oven, stove & range repair call
An oven that will not hold temperature is a different repair from an oven that will not heat at all, and both are different from a burner that clicks but never lights. Electric ovens usually fail at the bake element, broil element or oven sensor. Gas ovens more often fail at the igniter, which glows but no longer draws enough current to open the gas valve.
On cooktops, a single burner that clicks continuously is generally a cracked or wet spark module or switch, while a burner that will not light at all points to the electrode or valve. Uneven baking is frequently a drifting oven sensor rather than a bad oven.
We service freestanding ranges, slide-ins, wall ovens, double ovens and separate cooktops from Whirlpool, GE, KitchenAid, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, Bosch, Maytag, Kenmore and Electrolux — and we can install a gas or electric range as well.
Common causes we find
Weak gas oven igniter
The classic gas oven failure. The igniter still glows orange, so it looks fine, but it no longer pulls enough amperage to open the safety valve. Testing amperage — not looking at it — is the only reliable diagnosis.
Burned-out bake or broil element
Usually visible as a blistered or split section of the element. Straightforward, same-visit repair on most electric ranges.
Drifting oven temperature sensor
The cause behind most 'my oven runs 50 degrees cold' calls. The sensor is inexpensive; calibrating around it is not a fix.
Failed spark module or burner switch
Continuous clicking on one or all burners, often after a boil-over or a spill that reached the switch body.
Control board and relay faults
Blank displays, phantom error codes and functions that work intermittently. We confirm the board is at fault before recommending one, because boards are the most expensive part on the appliance.
Questions homeowners ask
Do you repair both gas and electric ranges?
Yes — gas, electric and dual-fuel, plus wall ovens and standalone cooktops.
My oven bakes unevenly. Is that fixable?
Usually. Uneven baking is most often a failing temperature sensor, a weak element or a door that no longer seals. All three are common, testable repairs.
I smell gas. What should I do?
Shut off the gas supply, ventilate the room, do not use switches or open flame, and call your gas utility first. Once the area is safe, call us for the appliance repair.
