What we do on a dishwasher repair call
Dishwashers fail quietly. Dishes come out gritty for a few weeks, then the machine stops draining, then there is water on the kitchen floor. Behind those symptoms are usually a clogged filter or sump, a failed drain pump, a worn wash-arm bearing, a leaking door gasket or a failed circulation motor.
Poor cleaning is often not a broken part at all — it can be low inlet water temperature, a blocked spray arm, or a hard-water scale buildup on the filter and arms, which is common with Inland Empire water. We check those before quoting parts.
We repair and install built-in dishwashers from Bosch, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, GE, LG, Samsung, Maytag, Frigidaire, Kenmore and Electrolux, including drain line and air gap corrections.
Common causes we find
Clogged filter, sump or drain line
The most frequent cause of standing water. Food debris, glass chips and hard-water scale restrict the drain path before the pump ever fails.
Failed drain pump
A hum with no water movement. Replaceable on most models in a single visit.
Worn door gasket or warped door
Water tracking down the front of the door or pooling at the toe kick. Usually a gasket, sometimes a latch adjustment.
Blocked or cracked spray arms
Scale-blocked jets and cracked arms drop water pressure, so the top rack never gets clean no matter what detergent you use.
Failed circulation motor or control board
Cycles that run but never wash, or a panel that will not respond. We test before recommending the expensive parts.
Questions homeowners ask
Why is there always water in the bottom of my dishwasher?
A small amount is normal by design. Several inches that stay after a cycle means the filter, sump, drain hose or pump is restricted — that is a repair, and usually a same-visit one.
Do you install dishwashers too?
Yes. We install built-in dishwashers, including water supply, drain line and air gap connections.
My dishes are cloudy. Is my dishwasher broken?
Often not. Cloudiness is usually hard-water etching or scale on the spray arms. We will tell you honestly if the fix is a cleaning and rinse-aid change rather than a repair.
